倒懸

(倒懸, 倒悬)

Hanging upside down; the condition of certain condemned souls, especially for whom the Ullambana (or Lambana, cf. [lang id =1028]盂) festival is held in the seventh month; the phrase is used as a tr. of Ullambana, and as such seems meant for Lambana.

梵語盂蘭盆， 華譯為倒懸， 意思是人生前若作惡多端， 死後魂魄便沉淪於闇道， 有倒懸之苦。
